  1. This is the truetype version of the Kashmir font converted to IBM
  2. TrueType for use with Windows, etc, by Adam Albright with permission
  3. to distribute granted by the original author.

  8. Howdy again.  This is the first (and with luck, the only) upgrade
  9. to my Kashmir font.  The uneven line widths that plagued several
  10. letters in the initial release have been eliminated.  The font is
  11. modeled after the typeface on the cover of Houses Of The Holy.
  12. I have provided PostScript Type 1 and TrueType versions of the
  13. font, along with four bitmap sizes that I have tweaked into
  14. legibility for the smaller point sizes.

  17. -------------------------------------------GENERAL NOTES

  19. This font contains a number of non-standard characters.  The
  20. four runes from Led Zeppelin 4 (Zoso, etc.) are assigned to the
  21. keys `, ~, @ and %.  There are also a number of special ligatures
  22. (see tips for improving font appearance).  As far as screen use
  23. goes, size 18 is the nicest (12 and 14 are very condensed and
  24. the lines in 24 are a bit too narrow for my tastes).  The printer
  25. fonts look good at any size, thanks to the advice of Jonathan
  26. Brecher (brecher@husc.harvard.edu) and John Skidgel
  27. (kaneda@applelink.apple.com), who have illuminated me in the
  28. mysteries of clockwise and counterclockwise outlines.

  31. ---------------------TIPS FOR IMPROVING FONT APPEARANCE
  32.  
  33. Kashmir also has several characters that make the type fit
  34. together better.  The vowels are underlined (just like on the
  35. album), and the bottom lines of some characters segue into the
  36. line under the vowels.  In order to get vowels to segue into each
  37. other requires a bit of trickery.  There is another set of vowels
  38. in the typeface with extended underlines.  To get them, type
  39. option-e (for extend) and then the vowel.  In addition, there are
  40. two versions of capital F and P.  Lower case letters will fit
  41. under the overhang if you use the versions option-p and option-f.

  46. This font is FREE!  There are no strings attached.  Distribute it at
  47. will.  I ask that you keep this document as part of the distribution
  48. package, because I want people to know the tips listed above.  Feel
  49. free to make changes to the font, as long as you send me a copy.

  57. Stack, a collection of lyrics, art & trivia about the band.  Now in
  58. its second edition, it is available from Sumex and other fine
  59. archives.
